You took the words from my mouth as we left the house 30 minutes ago, cold, damp and exhausted. I said to the guys, it would be great to get a skip, throw everything in then let people take out what they want.  The tr -ouble with this man, he loved ‘collecting’ things, if he saw one nice picture he’d buy at least 10 of them and he’d lived in several countries – Iraq, Austria, India, so there were, for example, lots of rugs in the attic that may or may not be valuable.   Also lots of pretty ‘knick-knacks’, really too nice to just dump, little alabaster bowls, inlaid wooden things etc. etc;,.  Plus lots of brand new bed linen.  And 75% ‘papers’, clippings, books, stamp collections and this only in the attic, the rest of the house equally cluttered.  So we had to separate into 3 lots, dump/burn, dispose of somehow to charity or try to sell if valuable (which none of us has the energy or interest in doing) and things we would like to keep.

I found it hard coming across a couple of boxes of Erika’s toys – we ran out of time as darkness arrived so not disposed of yet.   Humour not helped by continually hitting my head off the very low attic beams as I tried to drag umpteen boxes over to the hatch for the young fella to bring to ground level.  And particularly not helped by hitting my forehead off a screw sticking out from one of those beams, so dangerous. I felt very sorry for myself as the blood dripped down into my ey

We are trying to do too much too quickly for sure.

A rather exciting day for you with all your flying visitors?   What a lovely blue sky too.  Schools and colleges here are to close tomorrow in fear of the approaching hurricane, though some of us are more casual about it, will keep you informed.   Juliet in the Affirmation group requested that hurricane Ophelia steer away from Ireland; we don’t really care where else it goes.
